Hidden Practice

By Ellen Batchelor

We first meet Dr. Sarah as it dawns on her that the medical practice she bought — sight unseen — is hemorrhaging money. In addition, her new staff members don’t seem to want her around, and the only hospital in town acts like fierce competition instead of the ally she needs.

She struggles with the decision to fight for her right to practice her way, or go back to Oregon. Dr. Sarah finds possible friendship with a visiting neurologist and the elderly neighbor across the street. However, when someone from her past drives into town on an 18-wheeler, she discovers that what she had been trying desperately to keep hidden for 10 years is not what she thought it was. The truth is much more sinister.

Publication Status

Hidden Practice is ready for the next step in publication: I'm looking for an agent or a publisher and working on my pre-marketing. Meanwhile, Dr. Sarah is writing a Substack column. Don't worry, no spoiler alerts in her column, but if you want to learn some medical tidbits and some background on her, subscribe here. When the book gets published, that also will be the place to interact with her.
